The take
A free two-level gallery in Fort Canning Centre that follows more than 700 years of the hill, from the Malay kings to the British fort, with artefacts dug up in the park. We'd pair it with the free Spice Gallery, then walk the hill. It closes on the last Monday of each month.
Good to know
Free, 10am to 6pm daily; closed on the last Monday of the month for maintenance
Five zones over two levels, with artefacts dug up in the park and a short film in a mini-theatre
The Spice Gallery is free too, 7am to 7pm; a free volunteer-led tour runs on Saturdays
Finding it: Fort Canning Centre, 5 Cox Terrace, Singapore 179620, in the south wing. Fort Canning, Dhoby Ghaut or Clarke Quay MRT, then up the hill
