Queenstown is the first satellite town, one East-West stop west of Tiong Bahru. Tanglin Halt Market at 48A Tanglin Halt Road is still on NEA's hawker list as of 23 July 2026. HDB selected the estate for SERS. A replacement market is promised inside a new neighbourhood centre, with no announced opening date.

Commonwealth (EW20) Exit A is the door to 48A: about 200 metres, four to five minutes, toward Tanglin Halt Road and Faith Methodist Church. Wei Yi Laksa at #01-18 is typically 5:30am to noon, closed Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Commonwealth Crescent Market at 31 is the 1969 hill hawker, about seven minutes on. Hong Kee Porridge at #02-89 opens at 6am. Mei Ling Market is the other morning, uphill from Queenstown (EW19), eight to ten minutes.

Getting there

Commonwealth (EW20) Exit A for Tanglin Halt at 48A, four to five minutes. The same exit, then about seven minutes via Commonwealth Drive, for Commonwealth Crescent at 31. Queenstown (EW19) for Mei Ling, uphill, eight to ten minutes. Alexandra Village Food Centre is the working lunch if you are already on this side.

Best time

Breakfast. Wei Yi is closed Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. The peanut pancake at Tanglin Halt #01-17 is typically Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, 3:30am to 11:30am. Hong Kee at Commonwealth Crescent opens at 6am.
