Changi

Changi is an airport that swallowed a waterfall, a beach, and the boat to Ubin. Jewel at 78 Airport Boulevard is landside — no boarding pass. The Rain Vortex is a 40-metre indoor waterfall at the heart of Forest Valley, running 10am–10pm daily — it closes at 10pm; the free Light & Music Showcase is 8pm and 9pm Monday–Thursday, plus 10pm Friday–Sunday, public holidays and eves — the 9pm show runs Monday–Thursday, the waterfall closes at 10pm, and there is no 10pm show on a Tuesday (jewelchangiairport.com). Canopy Park on Level 5 is the ticketed 14,000 sqm layer: Discovery Slides, Foggy Bowls, Petal Garden and Topiary Walk on the base ticket; mazes, nets and the glass-bottom Mastercard Canopy Bridge are extra. Standard Canopy Park is S$8 adult/child; Singapore residents S$6 (jewelchangiairport.com, September 2026). From 1–30 September 2026, Canopy Park after 5pm is S$4.80 on the sole ticket — after 5pm is S$4.80; not a bundle, not the mazes (jewelchangiairport.com). Walking Net has been listed as closed for maintenance on Jewel's board; check the morning you go. Changi Experience Studio is a different indoor, 11am–8pm, last admission 7pm.

Changi Point is a different Changi: village, kelongs, bumboats to Ubin. Changi Village Hawker Centre at 2 Changi Village Road is the nasi lemak breakfast before the boat. International Muslim Food Stall Nasi Lemak at #01-03 is the named plate people mean; Mizzy Corner is the other queue on the same floor. Stalls keep their own clocks — do not treat a 2019 blog as the shutter. Weng Kee Ipoh Hor Fun is the other named bowl if nasi lemak is not the point. Changi Beach Park is 28 hectares, 24 hours (NParks), one of the oldest coastal parks on the island — Nicoll Drive, BBQ pits you book on the NParks portal, planes on finals overhead. Changi Boardwalk is 1.78 hectares, 2.2 km, six named sections, also 24 hours — Creek Walk (280m) starts at the ferry terminal. NParks' park page still flags Beach Walk to Sailing Point Walk closed for long-term repair till 3Q 2026; the noticeboard now lists the stretch between Cliff Walk and Creek Walk closed for repairs, expected to reopen 31 December 2026 (nparks.gov.sg). Creek Walk at the village is the start if the rest is boarded. Check the morning you go. Estuarine crocodiles swim the Straits of Johor; do not enter the water off the boardwalk. Changi Chapel and Museum at 1000 Upper Changi Road North is the WWII POW story — Tuesday–Sunday 9.30am–5.30pm, last admission 5pm, closed Mondays except public holidays (heritage.sg). Citizens and PRs free; tourist adults S$9* / concession S$7* / family of 5 (max 3 adults) S$27* (GST extra); children 6 and under free; cashless only from 1 April 2025. A valid National Museum or Reflections at Bukit Chandu stub knocks S$2 off for three months. Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is the door to Bintan — don't confuse the five.

If you have a long layover, Jewel then a taxi to the village hawker beats sitting in a lounge. Swee Choon at T2 Arrival Hall (public), 60 Airport Boulevard #01-07, is 24 hours daily — 4am dim sum is at T2, not the Jalan Besar flagship (sweechoon.com). Ubin only if the buffer is ruthless. Do not stack the chapel, the boardwalk and a Bintan ferry as a single morning.
