Marina Bay

Marina Bay is the postcard — and unlike most postcards, a lot of it is free. Outdoor gardens at Gardens by the Bay (Supertree Grove, Dragonfly Lake, Heritage Gardens) run 5am–2am with no ticket — They open at 5am and close at 2am (gardensbythebay.com.sg). Helix Bridge, Merlion Park, Marina Barrage's green roof (PUB: public areas and the lawn are 24 hours) and Spectra at Event Plaza cost nothing. The Sustainable Singapore Gallery inside the barrage is free too — 9am–6pm, closed 12–1pm and Tuesdays — the gallery is closed on Tuesdays (pub.gov.sg). The paid layer — Flower Dome and Cloud Forest (daily 9am–9pm; Cloud Forest last admission 8pm, Flower Dome 8.30pm — Cloud Forest closes at 9pm, last admission 8pm (gardensbythebay.com.sg)), OCBC Skyway and Supertree Observatory (9am–9pm, last 8.30pm — last admission is 8.30pm), Floral Fantasy (10am–9pm, last 8.30pm — last admission is 8.30pm. Disney Garden of Wonder runs 8 June 2026–14 March 2027, no tripods, next close 13 October, gardensbythebay.com.sg), SkyPark, Flyer, ArtScience Museum (Sun–Thu 10am–7pm, last entry 6pm — Friday and Saturday it is 10am–9pm, last entry 8.15pm — marinabaysands.com/museum/plan-your-visit; Bayfront Exit D is the 7-minute walk). Into the Ocean: Journey Beneath, an OceanX collaboration, runs 6 June–1 November 2026 (marinabaysands.com/museum/whats-on). Prototype Island Homecoming last day was Sunday 20 September 2026 — after that this line is historical. Far East Organization Children's Garden is free, adults only with a child 12 or under, entrance near the Sun Pavilion from 26 March 2026 (gardensbythebay.com.sg). Term-time hours are Thursday–Sunday and public holidays 9am–7pm, last admission 6pm, waterplay to 6.30pm; school holidays add Tuesday–Sunday. MOE Term 4 started Monday 14 September 2026 — In term time the garden is closed Monday to Wednesday, and open Thursday to Sunday. Children's Day Friday 2 October is already a regular Friday (moe.gov.sg / gardensbythebay.com.sg). The paid layer is worth it if you pick one or two, not the catalogue. Skyway, Floral Fantasy and the conservatories each close one day a month for maintenance (gardensbythebay.com.sg/opening-hours).

First-timers should walk Merlion → Helix → Event Plaza → Gardens, timed so you hit Garden Rhapsody (7.45pm and 8.45pm at Supertree Grove) then Spectra. Soundtrack through 27 September 2026 is Tales of the Moon; 28–30 September snaps back to An Evening of Musical Theatre; 1–31 October is Opera in the Gardens (Romantic-era) (gardensbythebay.com.sg/en/things-to-do/calendar-of-events/garden-rhapsody). Mid-Autumn lanterns run Saturday 12 September to Sunday 27 September, 6pm–10pm, free, at Golden Garden, Supertree Grove, Bayfront Plaza and Flower Dome — Fenbao and friends, eight lantern sets, battery lanterns only, open flame banned — Lanterns run 6pm–10pm (gardensbythebay.com.sg). Borealis in the same grove is still Saturday, Sunday and Monday only, rescheduled to 9.00–9.15pm through 27 September — do not stand there at 8pm, and do not stand there on a Tuesday. Lilytopia inside Flower Dome runs through 27 September, 9am–9pm; Singapore residents 12 and under enter the Dome free 5–27 September, accompanying adults pay. David Hockney: Bigger & Closer leaves IMBA Theatre on Wednesday 30 September 2026 — West Lawn beside Bayfront Plaza, 18 Marina Gardens Drive, not inside Flower Dome or Cloud Forest (gardensbythebay.com.sg). Monday–Thursday 10am–7pm, last admission 6pm; Friday–Sunday and public holidays 10am–8pm, last admission 7pm. One loop about 50 minutes. Non-resident adult S$26 / child 3–12 S$22 on imbaglobal.com; residents S$22 / S$18. Some nudity; the advisory is on the page. The current seasonal listing ends 30 September 2026; verify the operator's replacement after 1 October. Do not add Hockney, both conservatories and Spectra. Cloud Forest maintenance days skip September; next whole-day close is 26 October, then 17 November (gardensbythebay.com.sg/en/plan-your-visit/opening-hours). Flower Dome is 6 October and 16 November. Floral Fantasy is Disney Garden of Wonder through 14 March 2027, no tripods; next Fantasy close is 13 October. Singapore Big Flag Championship is Sunday 27 September, 1pm–7.30pm on the grove lawn, then a dragon dance at 7.30pm. After 27 September the lanterns come down; Chinatown's community lanterns at Kreta Ayer last until 4 October. Repeat visitors should skip the queue attractions and book a sunset sail instead. Satay by the Bay's last service is 30 September 2026; it closes from 1 October for Wetlands by the Bay (opening in stages from end-2028). After that, eat at Lau Pa Sat. Cyclists heading to the barrage: the Bay South–Bay East bridge works (from 4 May 2026) close the Waterfront Promenade to bikes — ride the Bay South perimeter instead. Pedestrians still get through, with a short diversion.

This is also where the city's biggest nightlife sits 57 floors up. Dress codes are real. So are the views.

• Boon Tat Street satay after the road closes to cars — official hours weekdays 7pm–3am, weekends 3pm–3am — weekdays from 7pm, close at 3am (laupasat.sg). Cash still useful on the street
• Makansutra Gluttons Bay, 8 Raffles Avenue #01-15 (Esplanade Mall annexe) — satay and oyster omelette with the bay in front of you. Esplanade (CC3). Official hours Mon–Thu 4–11pm, Fri–Sat 4–11.30pm, Sun 3–11pm — closes at 11pm (esplanade.com). Pick this or Lau Pa Sat, not both
