Early-morning things to do in Singapore
The morning is the comfortable part of a Singapore day. This list is what's worth getting up for: a lakeside garden that opens at 5.30am, bridges and ridge walks, a songbird corner at dawn, mangrove paddles and bike rides at sunrise, and the markets that are at their best early.
Pick by what you want from the hour. A garden or ridge walk costs nothing and can start at first light, bird owners usually arrive at Kebun Baru from about 5.30am, and the paddle and the bike ride are booked tours. Eat afterwards: breakfast at a market or a kopitiam, the neighbourhood coffee shop, is half the point.

Our pick
Chinese Garden is our pick for an early start. It's free, it opens at 5.30am, and the lakeside loop is at its best in the cool before the sun is high, with the Twin Pagoda opening at 7am. Jurong is a trip out, so we'd give it a morning to itself and finish with breakfast nearby.
If you'd rather hear Singapore wake up, the Kebun Baru Birdsinging Club is the island's biggest songbird corner, busiest early in the morning. Kebun Baru Birdsinging Club
