Art Remembers runs 21 August–18 October 2026 on Level 3, Singtel Special Exhibition Gallery 1 and City Hall Chamber — General Admission, locals free. Lai Foong Moi: Crossings sits in the DBS Singapore Gallery on Level 2. The UOB Southeast Asia Gallery is closed until late 2027; National Collection works sit elsewhere in the building. Raffles Place (EW14/NS26) Exit H, about five minutes. Crosscurrents: Masterpieces of Mughal, Safavid and Ottoman Art from the Musée du Louvre runs 19 June 2026–24 January 2027: one hundred Louvre pieces starting at the Islamic Art Gallery on Level 2 and continuing in the Design Gallery on Level 3; free for Singaporeans and PRs (acm.nhb.gov.sg). Sacred Caves: Dunhuang, Buddhism, and the Silk Road opens Friday 25 September 2026 through 7 March 2027; ACM admissions lists tourist adult S$25 / concession S$20, Singaporeans and PRs adult S$10 / concession free, under-6s free (acm.nhb.gov.sg/visit/admissions). Tourist permanent-gallery adult is S$15, concession S$10, under-6s free; locals free. The National Museum of Singapore at 93 Stamford Road is daily 10am–7pm; last ticket sales 6pm, last gallery entry 6.30pm; tourist adult S$20, S$18 from 13 October 2026. The Singapore History Gallery is shut for revamp until 10 October 2026 (NHB); Level 2 galleries stay closed into Q1 2027. Until 9 October 2026 the stand-in is Once Upon a Tide downstairs (24 May 2025–9 Oct 2026). Free admission 10–12 October 2026 for the 139th anniversary and the History Gallery reopening. Quiet Mornings unlock at 9am on the first Saturday and the first and third Thursday of each month (nhb.gov.sg / nationalmuseum). The Peranakan Museum at 39 Armenian Street — daily 10am–7pm, Fridays till 9pm, last admission 30 minutes before close. Citizens and PRs free for permanent galleries; tourist adult S$12 / concession S$8 / children 6 and under free (nhb.gov.sg/peranakanmuseum/visit/plan-your-visit). Peacock Power last day was 30 August 2026 — after that this listing is historical. Permanent galleries if the beadwork and wedding chambers are the point. Fort Canning Park is 22 hectares, free, 24 hours (nparks.gov.sg, January 2026) — Bukit Larangan, the Forbidden Hill, Raffles' 1822 experimental garden, 15 heritage trees, Fort Gate, ASEAN Sculpture Garden. The Spice Garden holds more than 180 varieties of herbs and spices, Singapore's most diverse (NParks). Fort Canning Heritage Gallery is the free indoor that is not the bunker: artefacts from the 1300s, typically 10am–6pm. Wheelchair access to the park is only from the drop-off at the Cox Terrace roundabout. The Tree Tunnel is LTA, not NParks — do not write to the park about a tunnel. Groups, filming and proposals need a Park Use Request on form.gov.sg. NParks still runs free walks when the calendar is kind: Heritage on the Hill Saturday 3 October 2026, 10am–12pm; Trees of the Fort Saturday 10 October, 10am–11.30am. The Battlebox at 2 Cox Terrace is the WWII bunker under the hill: Tuesday–Sunday 10am–6pm, last entry 5pm, closed Mondays — it closes at 6pm, last entry 5pm (battlebox.sg). Basic entry is free with limited slots — book ahead. The Enhanced Experience is the 40-minute audio overlay plus two projection rooms: standard adult $20 / local $15; child 5–17 $15 / $10; under-4s free without audio or glasses; 12 and under with a paying adult — bring your own phone and earphones (battlebox.sg). Dhoby Ghaut is about eight minutes, Fort Canning MRT about ten. Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay at 1 Esplanade Drive is the other waterfront: building is 8am–11.30pm, or 30 minutes after the last show (esplanade.com), Esplanade (CC3). Children's Museum Singapore at 23-B Coleman Street is the under-12s museum — Tuesday–Sunday, timed slots 9am, 11am, 2pm and 4pm (closed 12.45–2pm for cleaning), closed Mondays, book ahead — the 4pm slot is on (the 2pm slot opens after cleaning from 12.45–2pm, heritage.sg/childrensmuseum). Hawkerverse on Level 2 is open through Sunday 27 September 2026. Level 2 closes from 28 September. Tourist tickets until 27 September are S$15 adult / S$10 child; citizens and PRs free. From 29 September–12 November Level 1 is free for everyone, still booked; the whole museum is closed 5–7 October and 13 November; a new exhibition opens 14 November (heritage.sg/childrensmuseum/visit/ticketing-information). Adults enter only with a child 12 or under. Waterloo Street is the civic morning that is not the Gallery: Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho at 178 Waterloo Street, typically 7am–6.30pm with no midday rest (temple's own 2026 notice); Sri Krishnan next door at 152; Maghain Aboth at 24/26 Waterloo by appointment (enquiry@jwb.org.sg); Cathedral of the Good Shepherd on Victoria Street, free, Coleman's oldest Catholic cathedral. The National Library at 100 Victoria Street is Monday–Sunday 10am–9pm, closed public holidays, closed 5pm on the eves of Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year — it closes at 9pm (nlb.gov.sg). Bras Basah (CC2) Exit A is five minutes to Kwan Im. Do not stack the Gallery, the History Gallery and Waterloo as a single day.

It is walkable, shady in spots, and the right first morning if you like art and history more than malls. City Hall MRT Exit B is the Gallery door via the Art Connector. Walk the river as a street, not a cruise: ACM on Empress Place, then Cavenagh Bridge (1869, still the pedestrian hinge to the Fullerton) and Elgin Bridge (1929) toward Boat Quay. The good tables are one street back, not on the water with a sandwich board. DUCKtours splash down in the bay from Suntec. The river cruise starts a short walk away at Clarke Quay — the 7pm sailing is the one if you still need the bay. Lau Pa Sat, the Victorian iron market at 18 Raffles Quay, is the hawker in the middle of the CBD — Boon Tat Street becomes Satay Street after the road closes to cars: weekdays 7pm–3am, weekends 3pm–3am — weekdays from 7pm, close at 3am (laupasat.sg). Makansutra Gluttons Bay at 8 Raffles Avenue #01-15 is the other satay, with the bay in front of you — Esplanade (CC3). Pick one. Kallang Ice World at Leisure Park Kallang, 5 Stadium Walk Level 3, is the real-ice rink this side of town (Stadium MRT, Circle Line) — session slots from about 9am, extra late slot Friday and Saturday; The Rink at JCube is gone. Yunomori Onsen is in the same mall cluster, not on Orchard.

Bras Basah (CC2) Exit A for Waterloo Street — Kwan Im at 178, Sri Krishnan next door, five minutes. Bras Basah and Dhoby Ghaut (NS24/NE6/CC1) for the National Museum, Fort Canning (22 ha, spice garden, Heritage Gallery), the Battlebox at 2 Cox Terrace and the Peranakan Museum on Armenian Street. Fort Canning MRT (DT20) for the hill — about ten minutes to the bunker. Wheelchair access to the park is only from the Cox Terrace roundabout drop-off (nparks.gov.sg). National Library at 100 Victoria Street is Bugis, Bras Basah, City Hall or Bencoolen. Raffles Place (EW14/NS26) Exit B for Lau Pa Sat. Esplanade (CC3) for Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay at 1 Esplanade Drive — opens at 8am (esplanade.com) — Gluttons Bay and the waterfront theatres. Clarke Quay (NE5) Exit E is another Gallery approach. Stadium (CC6) for Kallang Ice World and Yunomori at Leisure Park / Kallang Wave Mall — not a Civic District stroll; treat it as its own rainy hour.

Museums from 10am opening to beat school groups. National Gallery closes at 7pm, last admission 6.30pm; Art Remembers through 18 October; Passion is Volcanic is gone after 20 September. ACM last entry 30 minutes before close (acm.nhb.gov.sg). Crosscurrents is on through 24 January 2027; Sacred Caves opens Friday 25 September. National Museum closes at 7pm, last tickets 6pm, last gallery entry 6.30pm, and do not build a morning around the Singapore History Gallery before 10 October 2026. National Gallery or National Museum?

Gallery for Southeast Asian art and the two national-monument buildings (10am–7pm, last admission 6.30pm, City Hall Exit B). Art Remembers is 21 August–18 October 2026 on Level 3; Passion is Volcanic last day was 20 September 2026; the UOB Southeast Asia Gallery is closed until late 2027; Fear No Power on B1 is free through 15 November (nationalgallery.sg). National Museum for the narrative of Singapore — but the Singapore History Gallery is closed until 10 October 2026, and Once Upon a Tide downstairs ends 9 October. Gallery or Fort Canning?

Gallery if you came for the art and the two buildings. Fort Canning if you want the Forbidden Hill — 22 hectares, 24 hours, spice garden, Heritage Gallery typically 10am–6pm, Battlebox Tuesday–Sunday from 10am (nparks.gov.sg / battlebox.sg). Basic Battlebox entry is free with limited slots; the Enhanced Experience is $20 standard adult / $15 local. Do not stack Battlebox, the History Gallery and the portraits.

Is this good for kids?

Fort Canning playground and DUCKtours yes. The Gallery in small doses. Children's Museum Singapore at 23-B Coleman Street is timed-entry, closed Mondays, adults only with a child 12 or under — book ahead (heritage.sg/childrensmuseum). Pair with the river walk, not a third museum.

Do I need the river cruise?

Not if you can walk. ACM to Cavenagh to the Fullerton is five minutes; Elgin to Boat Quay is two; Boat Quay to Clarke Quay is eight to ten along the promenade. The 7pm Singapore River Cruise is the version if you have a child or a parent who will not walk. Leave Boat Quay before the laminated menus hit your chest.

Where is the ice rink now?

Kallang Ice World at Leisure Park Kallang — Stadium MRT (CC6) Exit B, on the Jalan Besar & Kallang page. It is not next to the National Gallery. Civic District no longer claims Kallang.
