The take
A machine-gun pillbox from the 1930s, built to strengthen Singapore's coastal defence and sited so that neighbouring pillboxes' fire overlapped. It lay in the sector held by the 1st Battalion of the Malay Regiment, which later fought invading Japanese troops at Pasir Panjang Ridge.
