Sembawang Hot Spring: 70°C Foot Bath, Pool Hours, Jetty at Sunset

Kranji is crocodiles, goats and a war cemetery. Most visitors who come north at all stop there, or they go to Mandai for orangutans. Sembawang Hot Spring is a 1.1-hectare outdoor foot bath along Gambas Avenue, free. Bring a pail. The pool has four tiers and no changing room. The tap comes out at 70°C. NParks last updated the page on 27 January 2026. Canberra (NS12) is the station they list. Sembawang (NS11) is the park with the jetty.

Hours

Open 7am to 7pm daily. The cascading foot bath pool is closed every Monday and Thursday from 11am to 2pm for maintenance and cleaning — nparks.gov.sg said so, in those words. Go at opening, or after 2, or pick a Tuesday. There is no carpark on site. Park at 114 Yishun Ring Road and walk 450 metres, about eight minutes. Bicycle bay: 20 lots. If you cycle or ride a PMD to the gate, dismount and park behind the toilet block; cycling, skating and PMDs are banned inside the park. Wheelchair accessible. Groups of 20 or more need a permit on form.gov.sg. High visitorship weekday evenings 4pm to 7pm, and all day on weekends and public holidays.

The pool

The pool is four tiers, not a bath you climb into. Hot water emerges at the top, then cools as it flows down. NParks' own sentence: sit at the edge and soak your feet, or bring your own bucket. The water collection and egg-cooking station is 70°C — bring eggs and a container if that is the point, and do not use the communal pail as a saucepan you will take home. Wash your feet at the regular tap before you soak; it is courtesy, and it is hygiene. The pool area is not shaded. A hat. An umbrella. Supervise children, because 70°C is a scald and the top tiers are not a playground. This is not Yunomori. Yunomori is a sento in an Orchard mall, a tattoo policy, a café. Confirm that house rule on yunomorionsen.com. Sembawang is outdoor, rustic, actually geothermal, and it costs nothing.

The shallows

The educational zone is mild water play and geology panels — groundwater cycle, children, the version of this park that is not a foot-soak queue. Floral Walk if you want Yellow-vented Bulbuls, Olive-backed Sunbirds, Common Ioras. Rambutan, lemongrass, a banyan with aerial roots that have become trunks. Do not harvest fruit. Do not feed wild animals. Do not release anything you brought in a plastic bag. The kampung-like setting is the design, not a theme park. Stay for the hour when the uncles are still arguing about which tier is the correct temperature and a child is cooking an egg like it is a science project.

Getting there

Canberra MRT (NS12) is the NParks-listed station, then a short bus toward Sembawang Road; the nearest bus stops are about 400 metres away. Yishun (NS13) plus the walk from Blk 114 is the other door if you already ate. Sembawang (NS11) is for the coast, not the spring — bus 882 to the last stop at Sembawang Park if the jetty is the afternoon. Do not walk Gambas Avenue at 2pm in September and call it a nature trail. Pack water. The sulphur is the point, not a rumour.

The jetty

Sembawang Park is 15 hectares at the northern end of Sembawang Road, open 24 hours (NParks). It is the only natural beach in the north that is open to the public, and the view changes with the tide. The 30-metre jetty was started by the British in the early 1940s and finished by the Japanese during the occupation — a fishing stick, a breeze, ships in the strait. Sea teak next to Beaulieu House is a heritage tree that may have been here since the 1910s. Carpark A along Sembawang Road, Carpark B along Tuah Road, no parking fees. Bus 882 from Sembawang (NS11) dumps you at the entrance. This is sunset, not a morning, unless you like an empty beach and a wind off Johor. It is not Palawan. Palawan is Sentosa, a boardwalk, a claim about continental Asia. This is the north coast the hop-on bus never sold.

Chong Pang Market is the breakfast this postcode actually queues for — Yishun, long tables, no English required if you point. Pair it with the spring, not with Poison Ivy at Bollywood Veggies; that farm is a different west-north and a different bus. Yishun Xinghua is the other north tray, morning. Yishun Pond sits next to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital's garden: butterflies, a 14.5-metre spiral tower, a rooftop that is free, the sleeper hit if a child is still with you and the pool has peaked. None of these is Tekka. They still want the tray on the rack. Yishun Pond is 2.3 hectares and open 24 hours; ward visiting is 12pm–2pm and 5pm–8pm (Yishun Hospital Garden).

Woodlands Waterfront is the other jetty, and it is not Sembawang's 30 metres. Eleven hectares along Admiralty Road West, open 24 hours (NParks, last updated 27 January 2026). The 400-metre jetty is the northernmost point of mainland Singapore, a former naval pier, Johor across the strait, the RTS link on the skyline if you look. Woodlands North (TE1) is about twelve minutes on foot. Carpark on Admiralty West Road: 112 lots, free 6:30am to 8:30am, fees after. Fish only in designated areas. Do not feed the monkeys. This is sunset if the spring was the morning. It is not a crocodile, and it is not a farm. The dedicated morning lives in Woodlands Waterfront.

Admiralty Park is the rainforest fragment behind the HDB, boardwalks, a different muscle from a foot bath. Woodlands 888 is the Causeway-side hawker if the waterfront was a walk and you still want a tray. Woodlands Regional Library at Causeway Point is the indoor hour if the sky opens — one of the big public rooms, free, a destination if you are already north. Bus 925 from Kranji (NS7) remains the wetlands door. Choose one north per morning: the spring, Sembawang Park or Woodlands Waterfront. Each is about 90 minutes plus transit.

Pick one

Pick one stop per half-day. The spring is about 90 minutes; the jetty is about 45. Chong Pang or Xinghua at 7 if you want a tray. Spring at 8, off by 10 before the weekend queue invents itself, or after 2 if it is a Monday and the pool is closed. Sembawang Park at 5 if the light is the point. Woodlands Waterfront at 6 if the long jetty is the point. Library only if a cell has emptied the coast. Sungei Buloh is a different morning: 7am to 7pm, last entry 6:30pm, Platform 1 closed from 6 June to 23 October 2026 (nparks.gov.sg). Kranji War Memorial is 8am to 6pm, steps, no cafe. Pick one north. Water emerges at 70°C and cools through four tiers. NParks lists the pool as free and open 7am to 7pm.

Canberra (NS12) to the spring: a short bus, then 400 metres from Sembawang Road, or the eight-minute walk from 114 Yishun Ring Road. Yishun (NS13) to Chong Pang: a neighbourhood walk. Sembawang (NS11) to Sembawang Park on bus 882: last stop. Woodlands North (TE1) to the 400-metre jetty: about twelve minutes. Kranji (NS7) to Sungei Buloh is still bus 925, 925M on Sundays and public holidays. Canberra MRT (NS12), then a bus, then about 400 metres. The car park at 114 Yishun Ring Road is 450 metres from the gate. Pack water.

Monday on this corner is still a spring morning if you beat the cleaning window. Cascading pool closed 11am to 2pm. The rest of the park does not close. Sembawang Park is 24 hours. Woodlands Waterfront is 24 hours. Yunomori is a spa. This is a free outdoor foot bath. Go at 7:15am, or after 2pm, or pick the jetty.

Planning limits

Planning limits: this is a north morning, not an Orchard add-on. Bring your own pail. Keep children away from the 70°C tap. Sungei Buloh, the spring and Woodlands Waterfront are three separate outings. Springleaf and Sembawang Hills Food Centre are Upper Thomson. Sembawang Hot Spring is an outdoor foot bath, free, 7am to 7pm.

Live Turtle Museum is the other Yishun indoor if the spring was toes and a child is still with you. 11 Chencharu Close, reopened 23 August 2026 after leaving Chinese Garden in 2018 and ORTO in 2025 — more than 600 turtles from over 30 species, walk-in, no timeslot (turtle-tortoise.com). Daily 10am to 6pm except Tuesdays; open public holidays even if Tuesday. Last entry around 5:40pm. Tourist S$12 ages 3–6 / S$16 P1 onwards; pink or blue IC S$7 ages 3–6 or 60+ / S$11 P1 onwards. Khatib (NS14) Exit B, then about ten minutes past HomeTeamNS along Yishun Walk; access from Sembawang Road is closed for construction. Feed at the counter. It is not Jurong Lake and it is not a west-side oddity. The spring, the turtle museum and Woodlands Waterfront are three separate outings.
