Tampines Round Market

Katong and Joo Chiat will sell you Koon Seng Road. Tampines Round Market is the other east: a circular wet market and cooked-food centre at 137 Tampines Street 11, typically 6:30am to 3pm, and it is not a food court with a carousel. NEA still lists it. Tampines West (DT31) is the useful door. Tampines (EW2/DT32) is the hub. They are not interchangeable with a taxi drop at Tampines Mall.

Breakfast

The round building is the visit if breakfast is the point. Wet market downstairs, cooked food on the same floor, a geometry the rest of the island never copied. Yummy Sarawak Kolo Mee at #01-45 is the plate this postcode still names — typically 6am to 2pm, closed Fridays, dry noodles in shallot oil, spare ribs if you wait. Rajarani Thosai at #01-33 typically 7am to 1:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Xing Ji Wanton Mee at #01-35 typically 6am to 1:30pm Thursday to Sunday, a shorter Monday, closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Song Han Carrot Cake at #01-07 typically 6am to noon, closed Mondays and Thursdays, curry powder in the white. Yi Pin Wei braised duck kway chap at #01-40 typically 6:30am to 3pm. Stall clocks still win. Arrive before 8 if Xing Ji or the kolo mee is the hour. By noon many of the breakfast woks are scraping down. Return the tray.

Getting there

Tampines West (DT31) Exit B, then about nine to twelve minutes toward Tampines Street 11 — 137 is the round one, not a kopitiam in a void deck. Tampines (EW2/DT32) is ten to fifteen on foot or a short bus on 23, 31 or 292; if you came out onto Tampines Central and a cinema, you took the hub door. Simei (EW3) is the other East-West walk, about ten to twelve minutes, useful if you came from Changi. Tampines East (DT33) is Avenue 7, a different neighbourhood, about twenty minutes. It is not the market door. Pack water. None of these is Marine Parade (TE26).

The hub

Our Tampines Hub is the other tray, and it is not the round market. Level 1, 1 Tampines Walk, a 2016 hawker inside a town-sized community club — typically 6am to 10pm, stall clocks still win, about 800 seats, fans, not a 24-hour centre. The all-night arrangement ended 1 January 2019. Tampines (EW2/DT32) Exit F is five to nine minutes. Botak Cantonese Porridge at #01-65 typically 7am to 9:30pm. Mommy Rendang at #01-61 is the stall that still claims 24 hours and closed Thursdays — confirm the shutter, not a blog. Return the tray. Kolo mee at 7 and Hub porridge at 8 are separate breakfasts.

The grassland

Tampines Eco Green is the visit if a grassland is the point. Thirty-six hectares at Tampines Avenue 9 and Tampines Avenue 12, open 24 hours with no lighting at night — NParks tells you to exit by 7pm (nparks.gov.sg, last updated 27 January 2026). Pets banned. No cycling. No fishing. No mass gatherings. Three bird hides, 75 species including Baya Weaver and Purple Heron, the tallest bird in the park, up to a metre if you actually look. Blue Pansy on tiny flowers. Snags — standing dead trees left on purpose — for woodpeckers. Three trails that can be walked separately: Diversity 1.2 kilometres to the pond platform, Marsh 0.8 kilometres along vegetated swales, Forest the rest, about three kilometres and 1.5 to 2 hours if you do all three (nparks.gov.sg nature walk). Dirt paths inside are not a wheelchair; the perimeter footpath is. Tampines MRT then a bus, or about twenty minutes through Sun Plaza Park. It is not Bedok Reservoir. It is grassland the town hid between an expressway and a canal, and it costs nothing.

Sun Plaza Park is the lawn, and it is not Eco Green. Nine hectares along Tampines Avenue 7 and Tampines Avenue 9, open 24 hours, wheelchair accessible, elderly friendly (nparks.gov.sg). From the air the paths converge into a sun, which is the name. Amphitheatre, dog run, woodball course, a therapeutic garden since October 2023, trumpet trees that drop a cheap cherry-blossom carpet. Cycling and skating are allowed here. They are not allowed in Eco Green. Do not let a child on a bike into the hides. The dog run at neighbouring Tampines Boulevard Park — 10.06 hectares, opened 22 February 2025, split by Avenue 12 — had a closure through 16 March 2026; Sun Plaza was the alternative. The round market, Bedok Reservoir and East Coast Park are three separate mornings. A sequence that actually works: Round Market at 7 if Yummy or Xing Ji is open that day — they are not, Fridays and Tuesday-Wednesday respectively, which is the point of checking. Eco Green at 9 while the hides are empty, off by 7. Sun Plaza if a child peaked on herons. Our Tampines Hub at 12 if the round market has already scraped down.

Walking times

Tampines West (DT31) to 137: nine to twelve minutes. Tampines (EW2/DT32) Exit F to the Hub: five to nine. Station to Eco Green: a bus, or through Sun Plaza. Tampines East (DT33) to Eco Green: closer than the round market, still a neighbourhood walk plus Avenue 9. None of these is Bedok Reservoir (DT30), 200 metres from the quarry. None of these is Pasir Ris (EW1). Pack water.

Monday

Monday on this corner is still a market morning. The round centre typically runs 6:30am to 3pm. Song Han is the Monday that is closed. Xing Ji typically runs a shorter Monday. Eco Green is 24 hours, off by 7 because there are no lights. Sun Plaza is 24 hours. The Hub's stall clocks still win. The lagoon and this market are separate Mondays. A Monday here is a 7:15am thosai and an empty hide. Song Han is closed on Monday.

A sequence that fits. Round Market at 7. Eco Green at 9, Diversity Trail first, Marsh if a heron is the rumour, off by 7. Sun Plaza if a child still has legs. Hub at 12 if the round stalls have gone. Bedok 85 is the supper this east still names if the night is Fengshan, a different Downtown stop. Forest Adventure is the zipline over the quarry, Carpark A, last Grand 12pm on a Monday. Kolo mee, Forest Adventure and the Pasir Ris mangrove are three separate visits. Bedok Reservoir: 41.7 hectares, 24 hours, a 4.3km loop 200 metres from DT30 (Bedok Reservoir).

Pasir Ris Park is the other east water if Eco Green was a different morning: 70 hectares, 24 hours, a 1.5-kilometre mangrove in Area 2 near carpark C, Pasir Ris (EW1), not Tampines. Pasir Ris Central is the tray opposite the town park. Wild Wild Wet is 1 Pasir Ris Close, closed Tuesdays, last admission 5pm. None of these is Street 11. Pasir Ris mangrove: 6 hectares in Area 2 near carpark C; boardwalk 1.5km, 1–2 hours (Pasir Ris Park). Marine Parade Food Centre is the other east tray if you came off at TE26 instead. The round market, the lagoon and Wild Wild Wet are three separate visits.

Planning limits

Planning limits: the round market is a breakfast, not a cinema annex. No drones on the Baya Weaver nests. Start Eco Green in the morning in September. No cycling on the Eco Green trails. The round market, Bedok Reservoir and Coney Island are three separate visits. No dogs in the hides.
