Changi is an airport that swallowed a waterfall, a beach, and the boat to Ubin. Jewel's Rain Vortex is the Instagram. Changi Point is the village. Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is the door to Bintan. Do not confuse the three, and do not try to do them as if they were a mall directory.

Jewel

Jewel is landside. You do not need a boarding pass. The Rain Vortex is 40 metres, the world's tallest indoor waterfall, free to watch from the forest valley. Official hours for the cascade are daily 10am to 10pm; the light-and-music showcase is 8pm and 9pm Monday to Thursday, and 8pm, 9pm and 10pm Friday to Sunday, public holidays and eves. 10am is the waterfall (jewelchangiairport.com). Stand on the ground floor. Canopy Park on level 5 is the paid mazes and sky nets: Monday to Thursday 10am to 9pm, Friday to Sunday, eves and public holidays 10am to 10pm, last admission 30 minutes prior (jewelchangiairport.com/en/attractions/canopy-park.html). Through 30 September 2026, Canopy Park after 5pm is S$4.80 — a layover trick, not a day ticket. Canopy-only gate is adult/child S$8, Singapore residents adult/child/student/senior S$6 on the same page. The Experience Studio is the airport-geek indoor hour: Monday to Friday 11am to 8pm, Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10am to 8pm, last admission 7pm (jewelchangiairport.com/en/attractions/ces.html). Standard adult S$25 / child or senior S$17; Singapore residents adult S$19.80. The 1-for-1 September-holiday promo ended 13 September; do not quote it. Forest Valley around the vortex is 24 hours and free.

Changi Point

Changi Point is a taxi or bus 2 from Tanah Merah MRT: Changi Village hawker (nasi lemak before a boat), kelongs on the horizon, the bumboat to Ubin. The sunrise kayak meets at the ferry terminal at 6:15am. Changi Beach Park is the quieter east-coast sand, a 15-minute walk from the village if you still have legs after the boat. The Changi Chapel & Museum at 1000 Upper Changi Road North is the POW story, told without spectacle: Tuesday to Sunday 9:30am to 5:30pm, last admission 5pm, closed every Monday except public holidays. Cashless since 1 April 2025. Tourist adult S$9*, concession S$7*, family of 5 (max 3 adults) S$27*, GST extra; locals free with NRIC; children 6 and under free (heritage.sg/changichapelmuseum/visit/visitor-information). Combine with Jewel only if you have the range. The replica chapel in the courtyard is the pause.

Bintan

Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is the Bintan boat, a taxi from Expo MRT (CG1/DT35), passports, timed sailings. The day pass is beach and a resort lunch; first ferry out, last ferry with a buffer. Batam is HarbourFront, not here. Jewel, Changi Point and Tanah Merah are three taxis, not a walking tour.

The WWII heritage tour strings the chapel, the old prison site and the beach into four hours, heavier than a museum hour, which is the point. Changi Village hawker is nasi lemak before a boat, not a destination restaurant — International Nasi Lemak and the neighbouring stalls are why the village still works at 6am. Kelong fishing is four hours on a fish farm with rods included, kids like it more than anglers. The butterfly garden is airside in T3 — boarding pass required, 30 minutes, a transit highlight that landside visitors will not see.

Getting around

Changi Village to Jewel is a taxi, not a pleasant walk, and Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal is a third taxi. Budget the transfers as if they were islands. The East Coast sunrise cycle is the other east-side morning if Ubin is closed by weather — 6:30am, kopi after, no passport.

A layover

If you have a long layover, Jewel then a taxi to East Coast beats a lounge. If you have a day, Ubin in the morning and Jewel in the afternoon. Do not reverse it. A waterfall is a poor breakfast and a mangrove is a poor encore to a maze.

Johore Battery is a replica 15-inch gun, small, free, the Changi WWII footnote the chapel tour sometimes skips. Pair it with the Chapel, not with a 90-minute buffer. Monday

A Monday layover is the chapel's closed day except public holidays. Jewel still runs. Canopy Park still runs, last admission 8:30pm (jewelchangiairport.com). The village hawker still runs. Ubin still runs — bumboats do not take Mondays off. Do not build a six-hour around the chapel on a Monday. Build it around nasi lemak and the vortex, or around a boat with a 2pm pier. Immigration, security and the walk back will still eat 60 to 90 minutes.

Present a National Museum or Reflections at Bukit Chandu stub for S$2 off. Buses 2 and 29 stop at 97209 / 97201, a five-minute walk; bus 5 at the Women's Prison stops is ten. Upper Changi (DT34) then bus 2 is the train version. Little Island Brewing is the village evening if the chapel is a Monday and the vortex was the afternoon. The Navy Museum is appointment-some-years — check before you taxi. The chapel, the Navy Museum and the flight buffer are three separate plans.
