Sengkang Riverside Park

Punggol and Pasir Ris will sell you a waterway and a mangrove. Sengkang Riverside is the other northeast: 21.3 hectares at the junction of Anchorvale Street and Sungei Punggol, open 24 hours, and it is a wetland, not Jewel Bridge. NParks still lists it. Kupang LRT is the Visitor and Mangrove door. Farmway LRT is the Civic plot. They are not interchangeable with a taxi drop at Waterway Point.

The wetland

The wetland is the visit if a constructed marsh is the point. NParks still calls it one of Singapore's largest man-made wetlands: mangrove birds, damselflies, a fruit-themed boardwalk. Sengkang Riverside Bridge is 290 metres across the canal to Punggol Reservoir — elevated views, not a mall corridor. Over 20 fruit-tree species if you actually read the labels: mango, starfruit, longan, tamarind, white dragonfruit. Purple Heron, Little Tern, Collared Kingfisher if you sit still. It is not Punggol Waterway. It is a river the town hid between Anchorvale and the blocks, and it costs nothing.

The fence

The pipe-laying track stays closed through 31 December 2026. NParks: pipe-laying works until 31 December 2026; use the posted alternative. Do not fish. Wheelchair users get most of the park; the pond areas are the exception NParks actually names. Pets leashed. The park stays open. PUB's Sengkang Floating Wetland is the boardwalk that also ties Anchorvale Community Club and Sengkang Sports Complex to this green (pub.gov.sg). Use the posted alternative.

Getting there

Kupang is a five-minute walk to the Visitor or Mangrove plots. Farmway is five minutes to Civic. Sengkang MRT then the west loop is the town-centre door, not NE18. Carpark near the Fernvale Street entrance: 77 car lots, 8 motorcycle, one handicapped (nparks.gov.sg). Pack water. None of these is Punggol Coast (NE18). None of these is Pasir Ris (EW1).

Breakfast

Kovan 209 at Block 209 Hougang Street 21 is the tray this stretch actually breakfasts at — The next washing closure is 16 to 20 November 2026 (ahtc.sg). Stall clocks still win when they are up. Return the tray. Kovan (NE13) is a few minutes to 209 and a bus-plus-LRT to Kupang. It is not Compass One. It is not Old Airport Road. It is what you do the morning you are already on the North East and refuse a mall food court.

The wetland, Punggol Waterway and Coney Island are three separate mornings. A sequence that actually works: 209 at 7 if the centre is open that day. Riverside at 9, off the pipe fence, boardwalk if the shade is the point. Punggol Waterway only if a child still has a Jewel Bridge in them — Damai LRT, a different morning. Punggol Waterway Park is 25.79 hectares, open 24 hours (Punggol Waterway).

Kampong Lorong Buangkok is the indoor-outdoor if the heat has arrived and you still want this postcode: 7 Lorong Buangkok, still lived-in, privately owned, no ticket. Buangkok (NE15) then a walk or bus toward Yio Chu Kang Road. Walk the public path in daylight, in a small group, quietly. Do not peer into houses. Zinc roofs are someone's home. Pair it with the wetland, not with a tour-bus stop. The wetland, the kampong and the Japanese Cemetery are three separate visits.

Walking times

Kupang to Visitor plot: about five minutes. Farmway to Civic: about five. Sengkang MRT to Kupang: one west-loop hop. Kovan (NE13) to 209: a few minutes. Buangkok (NE15) to Lorong Buangkok: a walk or bus. Japanese Cemetery at 825B Chuan Hoe is a bus from Kovan, daily 7am to 7pm, a different morning. Pack water.

Monday

Monday on this river is still a park. The wetland is 24 hours. The pipe fence is still there. The next Kovan 209 washing closure is 16 to 20 November 2026. Coney Island still locks at 7. Point Park is still fenced through December 2027. Point Park stays closed through December 2027. A Monday here is a 7:15am boardwalk and a tray that is still serving.

A sequence that fits. 209 at 7 if the stalls you want are open. Riverside at 9, off the closed track, fruit labels if a child will read them. Kampong only in daylight, and only as a different hour. Jalan Kayu is the evening this northeast still names — a short taxi, a night, not a wetland breakfast. Punggol Park is the older lake. None of these is Jewel Bridge. Japanese Cemetery Park at 825B Chuan Hoe Avenue is 7am–7pm; the stop is Kovan (NE13) (Hougang Cemetery Park). Pasir Ris mangrove: 6 hectares in Area 2 near carpark C; boardwalk 1.5km, 1–2 hours (Pasir Ris Park).

Kidz Amaze Splash at SAFRA Punggol, 9 Sentul Crescent, is the indoor if a child peaked on herons: Monday to Friday off-peak 1pm to 7pm, no reservation, socks, adults S$5 (safra.sg). It is not this park. Splash, this wetland and Coney are three separate visits. Tampines Round Market is the other tray if you came off the Downtown line instead. Splash is at SAFRA Punggol, not in this marsh.

Planning limits

Planning limits: the riverside is a park, not a mall annex. The pipe-laying track stays closed through 31 December 2026. Start in the morning in September. No fishing. The wetland, Punggol Waterway and Coney are three separate visits. Coney locks at 7pm.
